It seems almost impossible to me that this precious little girl has already been in our lives for one full month! It seems like just yesterday that we were loading up in the family car to make the drive to the hospital, still unsure if we would be welcoming a healthy baby girl or boy.
An interesting side note – we actually had to have the discussion while in the car about baby names because we were STILL undecided up until the day of delivery. I know a lot of people find that thought preposterous, but it’s true. I guess we just wanted to make sure we got it right. Lol
The story of how our sweet Chyler (pronounced Ky-ler) came to join our family is so much different than I thought it would be and yet still so beautiful. I have every intention of sharing that story (and have even started the first draft) but it’s still a work in progress. There are so many details of that day that I want to hold onto forever…..but the most profound memory of that day was the moment when I realized….AND ACCEPTED…..that The Lord was in control.
More to come on that very soon (hopefully).
The past four weeks have been such a blessing and a joy. Even with the multiple times I’ve found myself praying through the crucible (this month has also taught me that new word).
Chyler is growing so quickly. I’m unsure of her current weight, but at her two-week checkup she had already gained almost a pound from the day we brought her home from the hospital. She was born weighing a mere 6 pounds and weighed only 5 pounds and 8 ounces when we left the hospital. But within two weeks she was up to 6 pounds and 7 ounces. And if wouldn’t surprise me if she’s gained another pound since then. My girl eats like a champ. 🙂
She’s also staying awake for longer periods of time now in between feedings and loves to have her brother and sisters just sit and talk to her. She especially loves it when Bubby sings his rendition of “Jesus loves me” to her. She loves to look around and take in her surroundings, but her absolute favorite is seeing the bright sunlight first thing in the morning. She must get that from her mommy. We’ve witnessed several sunrises already in her very short time here. And that is one of mommy’s favorite times to spend with her.
We are truly enjoying our time together and look forward to so many more memories! For updates via picture follow me on Instagram!
Love to all,
Melony
