{the pantry challenge ~ september 2013}

I’m so excited to announce a new series that I’ll be sharing here on the blog for the next 30 days.

During the month of September I’m going to be doing a pantry challenge.  For anyone who’s unsure ~ the challenge will be for me to prepare all of our meals (breakfast, lunches, dinners AND snacks) using only what we currently have on hand.  The only items that I’ll be purchasing will be bread, milk, eggs, and fresh produce (and coffee….because silly me forgot to stock up and I’m almost out…and NO ONE in this house wants to see Mommy without coffee).

This is going to be especially challenging because I didn’t make the decision until 2 days ago that I was going to give this a shot.  Therefore, I didn’t have time to stock up on anything extra.  Agh!  This could get interesting.

At the beginning of each week I’ll share our menu plan and then throughout the week, I’ll share a couple of meal ideas with you that we are testing.

My desire to participate in this challenge came about when I opened our pantry a couple of days ago and realized just how much food we have in there…..and yet I keep buying more food.  And please don’t misunderstand me….I’m not complaining about the fact that we have food.  We are abundantly blessed to have grub for our tummies and a lot of what we have is due to my couponing efforts.  But at this point it’s time to pare down.

In the past I’ve read other bloggers talk about doing pantry challenges when their kitchen gets a little overwhelming and I thought, “Sure, why not?”

So here we go!  Hopefully I don’t end up feeding my family any crazy off-the-wall concoctions but if I do, I’ll be sure to post about it.  😉  Haha!

Be well and eat well,

Melony
