Does anyone else have an issue with time flying by at breakneck speed?? I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that this post has taken me four days to write……four. days.
Life seems to be passing so quickly these days that I can barely keep up. These kiddos are going to be grown and gone before I know it.
It’s been almost three weeks since I last updated. However, that’s not for lack of trying. My “need” to post an update has crossed my mind pretty much every day. It’s just been difficult to find the time to sit down and do it. With a 7th grader, a 5th grader, and pre-k(er) and a nursing 3 month old, it’s hard to find time to do anything that doesn’t directly involve them.
Don’t get me wrong…..I’m not complaining. I love my life. I love my family and I love serving them. But doing that doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for “hobbies” like blogging, reading, or leisurely baths. We’re talking 3-5 minute showers at night and moving on with what needs to be done….lol.
So, what have we been up to since my last update?? Well, it might be easier to just post the pics and fill in the blanks…..so here we go.
Well, we started school on July 28th. Yes, I know that’s early, but we tend to take extra time off around major holidays….because we can…and starting school a little earlier than most folks is what makes that possible. Ryann started 7th grade, Kamri started 5th grade, and we started our second year of pre-k with Grant. Last year, we did some extremely informal “school” with him simply because he didn’t want to be left out.
This year, however, we are much more structured with his learning and so far he’s doing GREAT! All of the kiddos are, actually. We are beginning our second week of school using a new curriculum and, thusfar, we have no complaints. It’s working out very well for us. I’m hoping to do a video on our homeschool routine and curriculum soon. Just need to make sure we have all of the kinks ironed out first.
Chyler is now 15 weeks old. That puts her right about 3 ½ months. Just in the past week she’s figured out how to roll from her stomach to her back. And late last week, we heard her laugh for the very first time! It was SO precious! She’s gone back to waking up once during the night to nurse, but waking mommy up once is no big deal……Bubby woke up 3-4 times a night for at least the first year he was with us. Talk about being sleep deprived!!
In other news, all three of the older kiddos started taking karate lessons from a private instructor. They are really enjoying it so far. Ryann has picked up on the techniques very quickly, Kamri is slowly catching on, and Bubby…..well, he’s doing his best to stay focused. Haha
Since the kids have karate in Greenville on Wednesdays, we’ve also made this our library day and the day to stop by the park. The kiddos are enjoying a little outdoor time even with the Texas heat. We don’t spend a lot of time outside during the middle of summer because this mama just can’t handle the idea of kiddos suffering from heatstroke.
Here are a couple more pics from our shenanigans……
And with Chyler getting bigger, she’s finally starting to be able to enjoy her toys. I’m looking forward to the day when she can really interact with the other three and play with them.
And I don’t know about anyone else, but I definitely think there’s a good chance my youngest child is going to be a redhead. Whaddya think??
So, that’s about it for us. I also completely redid the big girls’ bedroom a couple of weekends ago. I’ll have before and after pics posted here if anyone is interested in seeing them. They were both super excited to see the transformation. And it was a surprise to them…..so that made it even more for for me! 😉
