{first day of homeschool 2013-2014}

first day of school 2013I realize that being able to homeschool is something that not everyone is able to do, and for some it’s not something they would even consider.  Every family is different and has different needs.  But for our family, homeschool is one of the biggest things that keeps us connected to one another.

Today was the first day of the new school year.  And it went beautifully!

We had probably the most relaxed and laid back summer EVER!  But it was also one of the most fun and memorable.  However, this mama was ready for some structure and routine.  And today was the beginning of our new schedule.

The kids all did really well completing their chores….all except for Bubby, who didn’t want to participate for more than a few minutes.  I imagine that it’ll take him some time to get used to this new procedure…..but with repetition, I know he’ll get the hang of it.

He also only lasted about 40 minutes during school time today…and that was with me pushing him for the last 10.  But, again, for his very first day of school I think that’s pretty good.  We will slowly work up his lesson time to an hour and a half or so.

Overall, today went remarkably well and we are all excited about starting all over and doing it again tomorrow.

Now off to bake a cake for my father in law’s birthday!

Be well,

Melony
