{monthly goals ~ August 2013}

007As I sit here typing, I can barely believe that it’s the first day of August already. That can mean many different things to different people.

To teachers and parents alike, the beginning of August signals a very near return to school. To children, it warns of a summer that is 2/3 over. To us here in East Texas, it means that we have almost survived another HOT Texas summer. Haha! And to a small number of people it is a reminder that Christmas is only 147 days away! 😉

Regardless of which month it is, I always find myself revisiting my “goals” for the year on the first. So, today I thought I’d share my plans hopes for the month of August.

1. Work on establishing a more consistent weekly workout routine.
2. Lose 4 pounds by following through with #1.
3. Begin homeschool year 2013-2014.
4. Begin working out details of my September 2013 challenge.
5. Brainstorm ideas for the 31 day challenge in October.
6. Finish reading 4 books in the month of August.

I, of course, have many more things that I could add to this list. But with 5 birthdays coming this month, and starting a new school year, I don’t want to overwhelm myself.

The most important goal plan I have for this month however is simply this ~ stop feeling the need to “do” constantly and take more time to “be”. Be present in the precious moments that fly by too quickly, be available to play/swim with my kiddos when they ask, be more loving with my words and actions.
Just be.
